Sweet corn for all
Sweet corn for all at the Lodi Sweet Corn Festival. This is one of the three things Lodi happens to make its name on the map for other than Amish and the Outlet mall, because if you passed through and blinked, you would miss it. It's a 26year(s) running, 3 day festival (July 19-21) held down at Letha Field that starts out with a parade and includes fair food, games, rides, and other activities. The other big thing that goes on around here is the Medina County Fair which by far exceeds that of the Festival. You can view pictures I have taken of the parade and festival on my flickr account!

Pot Terrorist
You are a terrorist if you grow pot. Well; according to Drug Czar, John P. Walters, growers have been known to have weapons, including assault rifles. "These people are armed; they're dangerous," he said. He called them "violent criminal terrorists."

The cost of war
Found a page on the cost of war. I don't know how accurate it is, but it's probably close and thats a lot of money. And since we are talking about cost, have a look at the office of the president's spending.

The Recipe Split
Left to right: Jason Hastings, John Welton, Joe Prichard, Andy Shepherd
So I just read yesterday that one of my favorite jambands, The Recipe, is now splitting up. Total bummer! It's really weird considering that they just released a CD (called Jubilee) last year. Their tunes are mostly rock, and have a very positive message for the most part. Basically their music makes you want to move your feet, dancing and singing along. Suffice it to say that they will be greatly missed.

President Bush has cleared the 2 1/2 year prison sentence of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby for the CIA leak case. Read this article for a brief explanation on what's going on. Or, you can read this article for a very in depth explanation to find out how INSANE it is for a President to be able to stop a court sentence of someone that was fairly tried under the Supreme Court. That's a huge...
Came across quite a truck of an audio system (if that makes sense). I couldn't find much other info on this thing except from what I can see in the pictures. It looks like its running nine(9) 10inch MOFO-10 subwoofers with eleven(11) amps. Hard telling what kind of amps from the pictures but they would have to be enough to put 1500watts rms to each sub. I would like to see the size of that things alternator to give it all that power.

Freedom of Speech
I came across an interesting blog post today about the freedom of speech. To make a long story short read the article because I don't want to explain. More info here.
***UPDATE*** (6/28) The case has been decided and apparently according to wikipedia's site, Because schools may take steps to safeguard those entrusted to their care from speech that can reasonably be regarded as encouraging illegal drug use, the school officials in this case did not violate the First Amendment by confiscating the pro-drug banner and suspending Frederick.

There is a really big star (100-150 times the size of our sun) that is going to explode soon, also known as a supernova. The name of the star is Eta Carinae. Their is a small chance it could shoot matter towards earth and kill everything on our planet. Just thought I would pass that along in case their was something important you had to do soon.

Geauga Lake
Went to Geagua Lake for Fathers Day this past weekend with Miranda. Surprisingly, it was not at all crowded. Every ride had only a 5 minute wait or less. Also swam for a little while in the wave pool at wild water kingdom which is the water park portion of Geagua Lake. All in all it was a really, really great time. You can get discount tickets from Drug Mart for $23 which is a pretty good deal if your interested in ever going.

Pan's Labyrinth and Pink Floyd Goodness
OK, so I finally saw Pan's Labyrinth yesterday night with Jesse J and Miranda, and holy crap! Definitely an awesome movie! It had this totally surreal feel going on the whole time, and I was diggin' it! I think leaving it in Spanish and adding the English subtitles made it better than if they had tried to dub it into English. Definitely not a kid's movie though--the violence in that movie was kinda extreme! Definitely worth a look though, for all who haven't seen it yet. On another note, yesterday I spoke with Eroc, the lead singer/bass player for Wish You Were Here (the best Pink Floyd tribute band around today) and he wants me to help with more promo stuff for their upcoming shows. So if anyone is interested, I will be getting some posters, flyers, and handbills soon--just let me know if you want some, or know anyone I should hook up with some stuff. Trust me, these guys rock- just ask Kris or Jesse J--they've both been to a few shows and can attest to WYWH's rocking-ness (that's right, I created a new word.)

Glowstringing
So I've started learning how to glowstring recently, and it's definitely a lot of fun. It's pretty simple to start doing--you just tie a shoestring to a glowstick in a loop, tie another one for our other hand, and just start swinging. But without practice you'll end up hitting yourself and tangling the strings up more often than doing anything remotely cool looking. Below are some links to glowstringing-related sites, as well as an awesome poi (fire spinning) site. Enjoy.

Google maps has a street view option in ceartin parts of the states. Right now I have noticed New York, Florida, California, and Colorado. Seems like a cool feature and can't wait to have it start in Ohio. Basically if you zoom in close enough on the map, an icon of a guy will appear and you can drag and drop him to any street highlighted by the street view option and it will show you a picture of that road at eye level.

Alice, Sweet Alice
I watched an old horror film last night, Alice, Sweet Alice and I would have to say it had a very good story line although it seemed like it was made in the 50's even though it was made in 1976. Now I am no movie critic but I would say it's worth the 108 minutes of your time in my opinion.

Why arent you @ work?
I came across a good article today that I myself have always wondered.... What are all these people out driving around and shopping and all kinds of other things throught out the day. Don't they have jobs? It seems as though the total amount of people not at work during the day is increasing. The article gives a fairly good explanation as to why this is. I know you wonder the same thing so read it.

Got a new place in Medina now. Still in the process of getting setled in. All I need now is some internet. After busting out the cantena, I couldn't find any networks nearby (it's a very small apartment complex). There are alot of houses and a few business around though that have to have wifi. I think that calls for a little weekend project of building a stronger cantena. I think I am going through internet widthdrawl at home right now. Do you RSS?
I am a huge fan of RSS. If you are not using it, you obviously don't know how to find the information you want on the web quickly and effectively. I prefer Google Reader because it's web based, their is no software to install, it's easy to navigate, and if you already use G-mail or another Google utility/application then you already have it. This page would be a good place to get started on how to use RSS. It's a video that explains it as simple as possible and also gives you a sort of visual representation of how it works. Below is a screen shot of my Google Reader on a feed from CNN's website. Also, on the right side of this blog are the items in my RSS that I share and have fed to this blog, so with the reader you can always mark it as a favorite and/or share it and can always come back to the story, just like a bookmark/favorite in your web browser.

A beautiful weekend
Friday I had the day off and it turned out to be a beautiful weekend out here. I picked Kylar up early in the afternoon with Miranda on Friday but not before stopping at DQ for a few French Vanilla Moo-Lates. (They are delicious might I add) Saturday we went out to Edgewater park and Kylar played on the beach and walked around in the water. Took some pictures and I will try and get those up on his site soon. Sunday had to be the nicest day this year (weather wise) and we went out to the Hinkley metro park for a walk. After that, headed out to Lodi park and we ended up running into our friends Ben and Krista. Chilled with them for a bit and headed back to relax and finish the day out.

Warranty woes
I was listening to the radio this morning (99.5 wgar) and they were talking about extended warranty's and how they can end up not helping you out. An example would be you buy a refrigerator from Best Buy and you pay for the extended warranty. Lets say it decides to break on you (inside of the extended warranty) and you call up the number they give you on your warranty, which they then refer you to a company that is close in your area to repair the fridge. You call the company and tell them your fridge is broke and you have the extended warranty plan. That instantly tells them they are going to take their good ol' time to come out and probably won't be out to fix it for a few weeks to even a month. The reason being, is because with those warranty's they have to fill out paper work and send it out to collect their money which can take a while. Where as if you don't mention anything about a warranty (or you don't have one), they will probably be there the next day or so because they know they are getting paid right away, whether it be cash, check, credit, etc... So the moral of the story is don't mention anything about a warranty until the very end of your call, AFTER the appointment has been made to repair it. While I have not experienced this myself, just a few words I thought I might pass on to help a warranty buyer out. If anyone has experienced this type of issue before, please feel free to comment.

Darsh
It's been a very busy day at work today. I'm still recovering from a slight cold that I have had for the past few days. Just a runny nose, but it seems to be getting better. This past Friday was when it started and I didn't feel good at all, body ache, headache, runny nose/congestion. For some reason this week has just been dragging by and I am ready for the weekend to come.
